Answers

What is a VistaCheck™ and why do I need them?

This device is a proprietary dual check valve backflow preventer. They are designed to help prevent water from running backwards in the plumbing and system tubing. Back flow can happen if a vacuum is ever exerted on the building plumbing system. An example would be a failure in the pressurization in the city water supply. Every VistaClear™ and VistaBrite™ system comes complete with VistaChecks at no additional cost.

Do I need to buy VistaChecks™ to go along with my other VRG products?

No. They are included with VistaClear™ and VistaBrite™ but are not required for VistaPure™ systems.

Does a VistaCheck™ meet my state’s requirements for backflow prevention?

That depends on the plumbing codes in the state or municipality which vary greatly. Some codes actually require what is called a reduced pressure zone backflow preventer (RPZ) or other device that actually has an air vent and test cocks. These types of devices can cause bacterial contamination to water and should never be used after a VistaClear™ system. If required, a small NPT RPZ can be used ahead of a VistaClear™ system since it will remove any contamination caused by the RPZ. Further, RPZ’s are plumbing devices and would not meet the requirements for a medical device due to the air vent and materials of construction.

How are VistaChecks™ different from other backflow preventers?

Each VistaCheck™ is constructed of non-metallic FDA and NSF approved materials. They have been tested to ASSE Standard 1024 and meet the requirement of the following: ASME A112.18.3M, A112.18.1 M, NSF 61/9 and CSA B125.

Will a VistaCheck™ ever get clogged?

This is highly unlikely on any of the VistaChecks™ in the lines after a VistaClear™ since the absolute filtration is 0.90 microns. The only ones that might ever clog would be the ones on the water inlets of the VistaClear™ and VistaBrite™. However, this, too, is unlikely since there should be a sediment prefilter ahead of these devices.

Will VistaChecks™ ever need maintenance or replaced?

If they ever do get clogged with debris, they can be easily cleaned by removing the inlet and outlet fittings and pushing the check cartridges out. If the cartridges would ever become damaged, they can replaced with new ones in seconds. The housing should never need replacing.

Does a VistaCheck™ need to be tested?

These devices can be easily tested without removing them from the waterlines so as to avoid contamination. See the section in the owner’s manual for testing the VistaChecks™.
